We paid US$50 for a taxi to Gros Piton and another US $50 for a "Guide." As we hit the trail, it started to rain. THe guide said nothing about the rain. She was nice, but didn't do or say much to acknowledge we were there. No commentary or anything, and she was 20 feet ahead of us the whole... more

Last month i visited St. Lucia and my friend in the peace corps. He gave me the heads up that we were going to climb the petit piton, so i researched the few reviews on this website and quickly got frightened. The mountain looks almost unclimable to a novice like myself with zero experience; however it is NOT as bad... more

Petit Piton Challenge On Tuesday 8th January 2008, Monica Kesson and Jane Wake undertook the Petit Piton Challenge as part of a fund raising campaign. This Piton is less often climbed and more difficult than the more commonly climbed Gros Piton and we were pleased when we completed the round trip in 3hrs 50 mins. Together with guides, we set... more

We lived in St Lucia for 27 months as Peace Corps volunteers. The pitons were visible from many places around the island. Any scene with the Pitons in view is expecially appealing and when you are near them they are inspiring to look at. Snorkling at the base of the pitons is especially good and the nearby resorts are all... more

We climbed Gros Piton on June 24th with the help of our guide. The cost is $25 per person and it took us a total of 5 hrs from start to finish. The trail begins easy and is not too bad through the first half of the climb. The second half is very steep and difficult, as we needed to... more

Before going down to St. Lucia I had been intrigued by a website that showed you could hike up the Gros Piton, one of St. Lucia's famous landmarks and a designated World Heritage site. I was determined to go on the Gros Piton hike once I got down there and I managed to do it.... just barely. Hiking up to... more

I climbed Petit Piton with 6 sailing companions this spring. Two locals guided us up (Peter & John). It was quite difficult, but all (including three women & an ex NCAA deep back with an artificial hip) in my group summitted... and it was worth every straight up step. The rope passages require some upper body strength & full concentration.... more

I climbed the Petit Peton in July of 2004. You will need a guide to take you up, inquire in Soufriere from a local kid, they charge up to $40 US but you can haggle (make sure they have actually climbed it more than once). The climb should not be attempted by anyone who is not physically active. It should... more

I drank a full .750 liter bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon before I climbed Petit Piton. I have to say, if it wasn't for the clear logic of the alcohol, I might not have had the confidence to make the climb. I loved it and made love to a local lady at the top of the mountain. The locals call... more

I intended to climb Gros Piton, but when asking for directions in Sufrier, I was told it was a wimpy climb: too long at the lower part, and the view was not as good from the top. The lad I spoke with offered to guide me up Petit Piton where he said the view was superior. I only learned after... more
