The Dorothy Molter Museum had an extremely interesting narrative about the life of this fascinating "root beer lady of the Boundary Waters" played out by local volunteers. They were very friendly and willing to answer questions. After the inside story, visitors were taken on a tour of the grounds and buildings, complete with the furnishings as Dorothy had left them. more

We recently visited the Dorothy Molter Cabin/Museum in Ely with some friends who have a cabin in the area. The staff does an excellent job interpreting the life of Dorothy Molter, the last permanent resident of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness who died in December 1986.
