I've wanted to see this place for years so when I was 150 miles from there on vacation I decided to go. It cost $4.00 to enter. It is well worth it. Words can not do justice to how beautiful this canyon is. In the middle of a bunch of Texas farm land the canyon appears of of nowhere and is astonishingly beautiful. There were very few people visiting when we went and we were able to drive slowly around the rim, hike a little, and pull over to enjoy the views.... more

Stayed at the Cow Camp Cabins in the Park. The cabins are historic structures built in the 1930's by the Civillion Conservation Corps. This is a little known yet awesome canyon. The only way to really experience its beauty and history is to take a jeep tour at Elkins Ranch. Last summer, my son and I took our canyon vacation. First stop was Palo Duro, then on to the Grand Canyon, and Oak Creek in Sedona (another must do). We loved Palo Duro!
