I couldn't believe how HUGE the peaches and nectarines were here! Holy cow and delicious as well! I wish we could have brought some home with us but sadly we couldn't. We also enjoyed looking into the shops inside the building, pretty eclectic selections. The view in back toward the water is great as well, we sat and had some... more

This market has just about everything, from tofu puffs to whole chickens (feet and all). Make sure you go on an empty stomach, because there are plenty of vendors, and many have samples to offer. Even if you're picky, you should be able to find something. Don't forget to step inside the Ferry Plaza - there are nice restaurants and... more

I've never in my life experienced a more wonderful open market as I did here, not even when I lived in New York City! The produce was the freshest I've ever had, the prepared food was dilectable ( I had fish tacos that were out of this world!) and the cost was just right for everything. There were so many... more

This was a lovely place to wander, sample some food and have coffee and/or lunch. I wouldn't list it as a must see if you are on a very short holiday or if you were specifically going for the market. more

We took two tours that started at the Ferry Bld. so we had time to look around. This is really a nice place and certainly not as tacky as the Wharf area. They really concentrate on good organic food. You will find quality food that you can eat in or take out. We stopped at the wine bar for a... more

Only in San Francisco.... multiple shops offering organic and "sustainable" food for take out under one roof. If you're looking for something different, plan time to check out the shops here. more

The Ferry Building was lovingly restored and is now filled with cute shops and restaurants, like a cheese shop, wine bar, Peets Tea & Coffee, bookstore, kitchen supply store, etc etc. My mother and I visited during afternoon commute time, when the main entrance was crazy with commuters trying to reach their ferries in time. Don't stand in their way!... more

The Ferry Building at Embarcardero is a superb place to shop for local fruits and vegetables. The indoor market place is a cool place to look around. I would recommend eating at the Hog Island Oyster Bar, they have some of the best oysters in town. You can validation for parking too. more
