This 17th-century church is located on the site of Koricancha (The Temple of the Sun), the major Inca temple of Cusco whose walls in Inca times were lined with nearly 700 solid-gold sheets weighing more than four pounds a piece.

The ruin complex of this military fortress is a superb example of Inca architectural skills since it was made of enormous carved limestone boulders (some weighing more than 300 tons each) that were fit together perfectly without the use of mortar.

Tercentenary Square is a cosy and hidden square, situated over Plaza de Armas; I met it casually, coming down from San Blas Square. It is an excellent belvedere if you want to "spy" the activities at Plaza de Armas, but far from "crowd". At sunset, it becames a "kissing place" for local couples, so if you are not with your sweetheart, be tactful and leave!
