My husband and I started our long overdue trip without kids at this oasis in the jungle. The treehouse cabana was beautiful with the sound of the ocean waves in the background. We could hear monkeys throwing things on our roof in the mornings. The open shower was perfect in the jungle setting. There was also a short but gorgeous... more

This was a great experience! It felt like home in the jungle. All the staff was welcoming and super helpful. We took many tours out of the lodge (kyacking, wilderness hike, horseback riding), and used bikes to get around. We stayed in a treehouse cabana, which was a whole new experience for us. Be aware that it is humid and... more

On arriving at this lodge my partner and i were at first impressed by the secluded and quiet location. There are only a few accomodations on the site, which we often prefer when travelling as it gives a less "Touristy" feel. Our room was very clean. It could have benefited from being more private, as there are only wooden blinds... more

The Black Turtle Lodge was a magical place to begin our first trip to the Osa. We loved our tree house cabina which is basically a two story screened porch with a bedroom with a queen bed and outside seating area upstairs and a bedroom with a double bed and twin bed downstairs (the family who stayed there after us... more

My two friends and myself stayed for 5 nights at the Black Turtle lodge and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the "tree house" for 3 nights, then a smaller cabin for the other 2 nights. Both were great, but the smaller cabin lacks a porch or anywhere to sit except on the beds. The grounds were beautifully kept and... more

I would definitely recommend Black Turtle Lodge - friendly service, nice atmosphere, homey feel (all guests eat together around a big wood table), monkeys swinging in nearby trees, and the ocean is a walk away. It is located about 15-20 minutes from town by bike, but that is also nice because you can get a sense of how locals live... more

Just came back from a 4 day stay at the Black Turtle Lodge. It really lives up to the reviews here on this site. We stayed in the Tree house Cabina, which isn't really a tree house, but places you on the second floor within the trees. Sitting on our little porch there, we saw monkeys, Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Hummingbirds...that's... more

The Black Turtle Lodge was a marvelous accommodation for our honeymoon. The rooms are clean and beautiful with hardwood floors, bamboo furniture, and screened walls to let the jungle breezes through. Meals were simple, local, and excellent. We felt quite fit and healthy during our stay! There is daily housekeeping service with linen exchange and three meals are provided daily.... more

Just returned from a four day stay at Black turtle lodge and loved every minute of it. Could have stayed much longer and we can't wait to go back! We saw howler monkeys as we were walking in with our luggage and I knew the rest of the stay would be magical and it was. The lodge is small and... more

This place doesn't seem to be listed directly but there is some information in the Puerto Jimenez forum. Nico and Maureen have been running this place for several years, longer than the original owners, and have maintained and improved it beautifully. We've just returned from a week's stay. We were in a tree house the first night and a cabinetta... more
