I will echo all the positive things said about this hotel by prior reviewers and add one more thing. In addition to being elegant and fabulous, this hotel feels very private. While in Buenos Aires, we strolled over to the Alvear Palace Hotel to see what we were missing. As it turned out, the only thing we were missing was... more

We spent three nights in this hotel and had an excellent experience. Very classy hotel located in a quiet street within walking distance from La Recoleta area and the Florida pedestrian area. Breakfast was included in the price and was of very good quality and with a large selection. One night we had dinner at the restaurant Le Sur and... more

A luxury hotel with all the trimmings. No significant gripes. You certainly get what you are paying for. Not a convenient location for exploring on foot. You have to cross one of those 'widest streets in the world' to get to Recoleta and it takes 20 minutes to get there on hoof, but the staff can easily call you a... more

We just returned from a cruise to Anarctica on the MV Discovery. As part of our cruise land package we were booked into the Sofitel. The Hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived at 7AM after a long overnight flight and they let us check in right away. The normal check in time is 3:00pm and we were worried... more

Our stay in November 2007 was our second stay in 14 months. When we decided to return to Buenos Aires we had no hesitation in returning to his hotel. Both stays were for holidays rather than business (not that it makes a difference for this hotel). You get great service from all the staff and good sized rooms. It is... more

I have just returned from four nights at the Sofitel in Buenos Aires and slept in the most comfortable bed I have ever been in. They use feather bed toppers -a layer of softest duck down on top of the mattress and the most divine high thread count sheets. The hotel is not large and the room size was average... more

I booked my stay at the Sofitel Buenos Aires because it rated #1 at TripAdvisor. I see now that it has dropped to #3, and in my view, should drop even further following my stay there with my husband. The hotel is beautiful architecturally, with lovely furnishings in the lobby. Our king bed room was comfortable but nothing unusual or... more

Service impeccable, location clean, nothing but praise. I stayed here for 4 days in August 2007 on a business trip. Things I found exceptional: the entire hotel smells like lemons and flowers (I bought their room fragrance for my house), breakfast buffet had champagne, hotel has a relaxing and elegant ambiance. Most exceptional was the concierge. I asked where the... more

The hotel is located in a very posh residential area. If you like art galleries you will have at least ten at walking distance. If you like to be in a central location with shops and restaurants nearby I would recommend the Alvear or the Four Seasons. The staff was very attentive and courteous. On the negative side, the rooms... more

This is a great alternative to the Alvear Palace Hotel, which is just as fine as the Sofitel, but $200 per night more expensive. The bar here is smaller than the Alvear's, but is delightful and is a good place to watch people. more
