This place was an interesting experience. My girlfriend and I stayed here on Memorial Day as I was looking into the law school nearby. My first impression as I drove up was that there is no way this is a 3.5 star hotel. The Hotel looks, from the outside, like your classic intercity hostel. However, once inside you are completely... more

Thank you so much for your review... this was during Memorial Day Weekend, where a local lifestyle magazine booked the entire hotel for a special event. The magazine is oriented towards the GLBT community, so we closed out the property to outside reservations "just in case" someone was uncomfortable with the crowd. Somehow you were able to make a reservation...

We just got back from Phoenix yesterday. We were there for a long weekend. We stayed at the Calrendon for 4 nights. When we checked in we were upgraded to a suite which was awesome. We didn't request an upgrade the hotel just gave it to us. Check in was easy and fast - front desk staff is very accomodating... more

I stayed at the Clarendon recently for a business trip and took the advice of other Tripadvisors reviews. I was a little hesitant because the reviews were a mixed bag. Fortunately I would have to say I was one who throughly enjoyed this hotel and definetly would come back. To start off, the hotel is a little off center. It... more

Springtime in Phoenix March 2008 The Clarendon Hotel Grade B+ Pros: Fairly inexpensive, large bed and TV. Cons: Odd area. FULL REVIEW: My girlfriend and I decided to get away from not so “spring like” conditions from northern Colorado and spend spring break in Phoenix, Arizona. It was mid march and the weather was fantastic, around 75 degrees during the... more

I found this unique hotel listed on Expedia and after checking out their website decided to stay there. Could not beat the price! Enjoyed my short stay there. Staff was great and so not stuffy. Very laid back, but in a good way. It's a little oasis - pool area great. Definitely a young crowd. Rooms were funky and then... more

I booked this hotel while in AZ on business. I got a GREAT price on Hotels.com (almost 1/2 price on a 24 hr sale). I have to admit that when I first pulled up outside my responce to my GPS saying "you have reached your destination" was...LIKE HELL I HAVE! But, then i went into the lobby and any concerns... more

I stayed at the Clarendon for 6 nights. I had first considered the Hyatt downtown downtown (that's not a mistake, that's what it's called). Why the Hyatt? Because the conference I had to attend took place there. I'm glad I stayed at the Clarendon! It all depends on what you want I guess. If you want to know in advance... more

We were in Phoenix again in March and needed somewhere to stay. We got a great deal on Expedia for the Clarendon and decided that as the pool was ready we'd give it another go. Pool is undoubtedly fantastic, although bits of the glass from the chippings around the pool had worked loose and were really painful on your feet-... more

Thank you so much for your review... you'll be very happy to know that we're on top of things and have already re-sealed the pool deck so that the glass doesn't break free. There are three bathrooms near the restaurant, and the ADA / Unisex restroom has been re-tiled, re-painted, and the lighting and fixtures have all been upgraded. The...

That they took a nondescript, boxy '50s motel and turned it into a desirable place deserves credit at the get-go. It's kind of like W meets Hard Rock -- in the desert. (The hallways are painted purple!) But it's quirky, and the service levels are spotty. I'm guessing that the owners are young. Apparently a number of the rooms have... more

We booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and the hotel website. The owner is a marketing genius! We would admit that the pool and hot tub were very nice, but that is the only thing that makes these outdated motel style rooms bearable. The hotel has tried to put in cool artwork, flat screens and modern furniture, but... more

Thank you very much for your review.... we're admittedly not the hotel for everyone as we try to be different than the typical beige-and-tan chain hotels in the world. If you like to travel and experience different hotels and restaurants so that you go back home with a unique experience to share, we're the place for you. If you're the...
