We booked at the WSH because we felt it was a good value for Manhattan and we wanted to explore the area. Overall we enjoyed the experience....The hotel felt almost European--in fact it seemed to be full of more British folks, than Americans. We did need to carry our bags up the front steps and up one flight to our... more

Overall had an enjoyable time at the Washington Square Hotel. The room we were in was small but for all the time spent in there it wasn't really a problem. The room was clean, toiletries replaced daily, there was a safe, TV, Air Conditioning (a bit noisy). As we had an interior view room there was no problem with noise... more

We only stayed here one night, having spent four nights at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Tribeca, and two nights at the Alexander Inn in Philadelphia. The WSH was by far the most expensive of these three hotels, and easily the worst. The room was generally shabby, and had a feel of a prison cell about it. It echoed, was sparsely... more

We stayed at the WSH at the end of August for 4 nights on a long weekend from London. Having stayed in NYC previously near Times Square we were keen to stay in a different part of the city and to explore more of Greenwich, Soho etc. The location of this hotel made it an excellent base from which to... more

Entering the lobby, having just enjoyed a taxi ride through the whole Greenwich Village area for the first time (so this is it! how exciting!), I was keyed up for an enjoyable stay. The reception areas are full of character—they've gone for this mix of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, combined with a Greta-Garbo vibe. Lots of dark colors, enamelling, rich... more

My daughter and I loved this hotel. It is a great place to return to after the hustle and bustle of the city and having visited a few other places in NY I was SO glad we were staying in 'the village'.The surrounding area has a lot of character and there are lots of quirky little shops and places to... more

Excellent location. Our room was quiet as it was less than 3 feet from the next building. So, nothing to look at. Room was small as is typical in NY. Bathroom quite nice. Everything new. Was a good value for the $$. more

Pleasant, somewhat old fashioned hotel in a terrific location. The room was small but comfortable, with a small yet serviceable bathroom. Clean and light (our room faced the front street.) Continental breakfast was pretty good. The desk staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. No refrigerator in the room, and the television is small and mounted high on the wall.... more

The hotel room we had was beautiful, recently renovated and had the amazing 1930's style that new york loves so much. the hotel itself is great, the front desk staff were not overly friendly but we didnt have any problems with them! The guy who stands in the lobby did make up for it though, he was really friendly and... more

The best thing about New York is the service - but not here. I was travelling to the city for the first time and was on my own. I found the whole experience a real disappointment. You are pretty much ignored from the moment you step in till the moment you leave. No thank you after you pay. No bell... more
