“Great, high class hotel”

Grand Pacific Le Daiba

First up: value for money. For about USD$150/night, this was a great hotel to stay in, its top notch.

Don't want cleaning every day? They allow that. Every 2 days, you can skip, and get some money back (2000 Yen/day). This can be used to offset your hotel bill...

In-room massages are available. Great when you're tired.

Rooms are large. American sized. Not like how rooms in Japan are portrayed to be on TV (i.e. small).

Food is nice. Lots of sushi :) Even for breakfast.

Staff are helpful.

If anything, the only real issue is the place is located in Daiba, which is not on the JR train line. But there's another train line just outside, that connects pretty quickly to the JR

For business, or pleasure, this is a great hotel to be at.

“Great value..... Great hotel”

I spent four nights at the Grand Pacific in mid-January. As it was my first visit to Japan, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and have to honestly say I was a little disappointed to find that, with the exception of language and food, it was much like any other modern high-rise hotel in any other city in the world. Drat! A bit more of Japanese culture would have been nice. But, I suppose one could say that spotlessly clean, and prompt and efficient service are aspects of Japanese culture, too.

Other than to state I agree, I won't repeat the positives noted by other reviewers. The following observations however, were particularly noteworthy for me.

Location: Super!! Right on the monorail line, 10 minutes from the center of the city, and only one transfer/connection to Ginza, Asakusa, and other major city sights.

Beds: My wife would say, "firm". I say, "hard". Enough so that shoulders became sore if I slept on one side too long. (Another cultural aspect?)

Toilets: Multi-functional... the usual, plus douche and bidet. Here I was glad it wasn't the traditional porcelain-framed hole in the floor.

TV: Confusing! Two remotes for one TV. I was told the hotel carried CNN, but couldn't figure out how to find it. Wish I knew some Japanese, but German came in handy.

Views: Whether overlooking Tokyo harbor or the city itself, hard to beat. Best in the hotel is from the Sky Lounge on the top floor, which overlooks the city. Request a room facing that direction

Dining: For the two restaurants we tried - Le Bouquet and Hamayo - decent and reasonably priced (at least for this kind of hotel). But you'll find just as good at better prices in Aqua City, a five minute walk. If you're observant along the way, you might wonder if you're in NYC.

Other: Another reviewer mentioned the number of weddings held at the hotel. This is noteworthy if you want to see Japanese women dressed in traditional kimonos. I spent a half hour one evening sitting in the lobby admiring them.

“Le Meridien more than just a hotel!”

My husband and I stayed at the beautiful hotel for 3 nights. The room more than met our needs. Larger than normal hotel rooms. I cannot say enough good about them. The view was fantastic. Our only real problem was the front desk. As we did not have any Yen I tried to convert Aussie dollars to yen but they would not accept them only US or Euro. The bank hours did not open till 9am so we could not get cash out from our credit card either or use our credit card at the exchange counter. As we had an early morning tour we had to go the whole day without any cash. Only when we got back to our hotel in the evening would they accept my credit card to give us cash. The staff were very friendly and the room was made up as soon as we left it. As mentioned previously the breakfast was a bit of a problem as not able to just buy a small breakfast and the buffet was too expensive. Location was terrific with the mono rail right outside the entrance. Japan is the cleanest city I have seen so far!

“Excellent hotel in all respects”

Grand Pacific Le Daiba

I stayed here for 1 night. I was staying with some relatives but wanted to spend a little more time in Odaiba and its environs.

The hotel is directly connected, via walkway, from the subway station. Convenient! The hotel is quite large and quite obviously used for a lot of weddings. The interior lobby was monstrous.

The overal style of the hotel is French colonial which is reflected in the lobby and rooms. Check-in was extremely smooth. I used a point redemption as it offered an excellent value to the room rates. As a SPG Platinum, I was upgraded to a larger room facing the Rainbow bridge. This room was pretty big for Tokyo and the washroom was unbelievably large. The air conditioning system worked extremely well and there was free internet! The Meridien is not adjacent to the shoreline, but the Nikko hotel is. I was high enough to completely overlook in the Nikko and have an unobstructed view.

The lounge is on the Club President floor and is smallish. There is no food other than some cookies. There is a non-alcoholic drink menu you can choose from. In the corner of the lounge, there is an internet terminal for free. The both times I as in the lounge always had nobody using the terminal. There was a happy hour which may have featured alcohol and food but I have no idea since I wasn't able to make it.

This hotel has a free shuttle to Tokyo Disney resort, free shuttle to its sister Meridien property, and direct shuttles to the airport.

This is an excellent property and I was definitely impressed. I would absolutely stay again. Unfortunately, I have heard this hotel is leaving the Meridien chain (and SPG) sometime in mid-2008.

“The Most Perfect Hotel”

Grand Pacific Le Daiba

5 of 5 stars
London, england

Le Meridien Grand Pacific is my favourite hotel. It is beautiful, luxurious, calm, the staff are unfailingly kind and helpful, and the rooms are sublimely comfortable with wonderful bathrooms and all the amenities. .The views from the rooms are superb. There are many restaurants in the hotel, bars, a lovely roof top swimming pool for summer and the greatest treasure of all, an all-year swimming pool, with steam room, sauna, Japanese baths, whirlpools and a great gym. There is also an internet room with dedicated English language terminals, and a convenience store on the ground floor which sells various snacks, drinks and souvenirs. There are a number of very good shopping centres nearby and seafront restaurants of all cuisines too, and the Ship Museum is nearby. The hotel is minutes from downtown Tokyo by lovely rail line across the Rainbow Bridge which is a treat on its own especially at night with marvellous views of Tokyo Bay and the city. Even a night at this treasure feels like a holiday. There is also an airport bus which runs from Narita Airport, all terminals, to the hotel with only brief stops at nearby hotels and takes a little more than an hour.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Style, elegant, helpful staff, comfortable rooms with great beds and bathroom. Pools
    • Disliked — It is a little further from downtown but the rail line is fast and easy
