We stayed at Royal Plantation this past June. It is such a beautiful place, and the staff is way beyond wonderful. We were there for eight days, and each one was better than the one before. We arrived in the early afternoon to a private car waiting for us...our driver (sharn) was awesome, he gave us all kinds of great information and was incredibly funny. Once we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by Joseph...he is such a wonderful man. He made sure that we were treated with the utmost respect.
Our suite was more than we could have ever expected. We stayed in suite 301. It has a perfect view of the east beach and the point. It has a full balcony and two bathroom. The bed and linens were amazing and the mini-bar is far from mini. Every night we were greeted after dinner with turn down service and all of the information we would need for the next days events. We had room service for breakfast every morning, and several middle of the night orders also.
The west beach is the bomb. Once you step on the beach, a beach butler greets you with your lounge chair linens and pillows. Our drink orders were promptly taken and we were handed an RP flag for use when we needed anything additional. The drinks are amazing and Ralston is a top notch bar tender. We ate lunch everyday at the royal cafe....the club sandwich is to die for. We were offered fresh fruit and sprayed down with rose water. We never once had to wait for a lounge chair or go down early to reserve. There are always chairs available.
After spending most of our days on the beach, we headed to dinner around 7pm every evening. We ate most nights at Le Terrace. The food there is wonderful. The jumbo prawns were my favorite. Two nights out of our stay we ate at Le Papillion. The food is great, the service...a little slow. The only draw back is that it is incredible humid and it was really bad on the balcony at Le Papillion. We had the same servers just about every night. Gary Blair and Marcia are AWESOME.
The resort requests that if you are going to leave tips that you use a tip form. I wasn't really big on that idea, we gave cash. We wanted to make sure that the staff that were extra great recieved american currency, not jamaican. I visited the spa on our last day, it was nice. I felt like a linebacker was jumping on my back. Ouch! I wouldn't say that it's worth the money.
The gift shop is great. They have so many great things and the girls are so welcoming. The entire resort staff gave excellent service. If I could have given them all huge tips, I would have.
All in all, RP is expensive...but WELL worth the money. We met so many great people and got to watch Reggie Wayne (Colts player) get married. We will be back sooner rather than later.
