“First Class Staff!!!”

Negril Escape Resort & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Apr 30, 2008

We stayed at Negril Escape from April 8th -13th 2008. From the moment we checked in, I knew that this staff was special. They catered to every need that I had about the resort. They would go out of there way and do everything possible to try to make me happy. Big shout out to Kim and Damien for making my vacation one to remember. The accomodations aren't luxurious, but the property is beautiful. Breakfast included every morning is a great treat! I would highly recommend this resort to anybody looking to relax in a quite, peaceful atmosphere. The Sunset Show on Tuesday is a must do, as is kareoke on Saturday nights. Once again i'd like to thank the entire staff of Negril Escape for making my vacaton one to remember!

“Beutiful grounds, spectacular view but rooms less than desired”

Negril Escape Resort & Spa

3 of 5 stars
New York
Apr 29, 2008
2/2 found this review helpful

Pros:
- Spectacular view, several of the cottages have views of the beautiful west end cliffs
- Grounds are beautiful and well kept, many native plants are found in the gardens all over the property
- Small and intimate
- Courteous staff
- Walking distance to Rick's Cafe

Cons:
- Rooms were a bit too rustic, especially for the price we paid. Two bedroom suite was just a large room with a divider
- Food was just OK. Breakfast is free but I would not recommend the all-inclusive package based on the breakfast
- We had an issue with the toilet which they were not able to fix
- The windows in the room do not have screens and we had a lizard in our room, which was a bit annoying (if you aren't into lizards :-) ). A staff member did chase it out for us when we told them.

Overall:
I think the reason for all the wonderful reviews for this hotel is because of the grounds and location. The cliffside views are spectacular and would enchant anyone. However I think the rooms could use updating and I hope they make it apart of their plans soon. My friends and I were a bit disappointed at first when we saw the room, but everything else about the location made up for it. Overall it was a very good vacation and now that I know what to expect with the rooms, I would likely stay at Negril Escape again in the future.

“My best experience in Jamaica”

Negril Escape Resort & Spa

5 of 5 stars
Fredericton, New Brunswick
Apr 27, 2008

I have just returned from a vacation that saw me visit Jamaica and Cuba. The highlight of my trip was my stay at the Negril Escape Resort. The resort is very beautiful and that beauty is magnified by the wonderful staff especially the attentive and proffesional service provided by a staff member named Kim. The resort is large enough to give you the feeling of freedom but small enough to provide detailed attention to each guest. Management at this resort must be of the highest quality due to the energy and attentiveness provided by each and every staff member. I have been in many resorts in the Caribbean and this one stands out because of the quick response to requests by all staff members. They seem to work on a pace that does not evolve around "Caribbean Time". For the uninitiated "Caribbean Time" is very much slower than the average North American would expect. At this beautiful resort if you order a drink or some food it comes in a timely maner and with a smile. I cannot tell you how refreshing it was for me. On my next vacation I will skip the all inclusive in Cuba and spend all of my time at this resort where they made me feel like family and not just a tourist. Please if you get a chance visit this wonderful hidden gem.

“Great Developments”

Negril Escape Resort & Spa

5 of 5 stars
York, United Kingdom
Apr 8, 2008

I have already wrote a recent review on this hotel but with all the changes taken place since then I feel I should give further feedback to travellers on the changes.

Firstly the things that haven't changed are the friendliness and efficiency of staff, the cleanliness, well kept hotel grounds and the great vibes present.

Since my previous visit there have been a few changes. More rooms refurbished and updated. I stayed in Bamboo Avenue which was very nice with a modern TV and A/C unit. The view was fabulous even though it wasn't directly ocean view. I also took my laptop and had a few problems at first with the internet connection. However, the staff reset the routers for me and after then I had no further problems.

Tuesday night saw the re-launch of the Sunset Show which I had not had the pleasure to see on previous visits. The show was very professional and highly recommended. It takes you through the era of reggae music from how it all began to the present day. Fire eaters, african dancers, the whole works!

During my stay there was a Jamaican barbeque and a karaoke night which was great and apparently becoming a regular thing on Satuday evenings. The food was excellent and very reasonable with regard to price. Jerk chicken, steamed roast fish, rice n peas and salad. The staff were all good sports and got up on stage to try their hand at singing which was very entertaining. I myself wasn't brave enough to try. It was great to see that there was more in the way of entertainment happening in the hotel.

Even though I have been coming to Jamaica for many years, I have only been visiting this hotel for just over a year and it is so nice to see it growing and developing in many ways. All the hard work the staff are putting is starting to pay off and the hotel deserves every success.

“Loved it! Recommended”

Negril Escape Resort & Spa

We spent there 2 whole weeks in March and we really enjoyed it. The property has free internet access in the rooms so don't forget to bring your laptop! In the room we stayed (Bamboo Avenue) the reception was not very good but as there were not many guests staying at that time we asked for a different room and the staff didn't make any problems. We got a room at Coconut Grove (one of the routers is fixed there) and the internet was working perfect.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfasts were delicious with a choice of good Jamaican food and plenty of fresh fruit.
In the evenings the cocktails they serve at the bar were all delicious!

Each cottage has 4 rooms. The rooms are clean and tidy and have everything you may need, though no fridge or kettle (in standard rooms). There were no problems with water/hot water (I heard some resorts and/or hotels do have problems with water there), cable tv, bathrooms with showers.

The staff is very nice - I always forget names so greetings for all!

Negril Scuba dive staff was also very friendly - greetings for Chris and Curtis! They do cliff diving from the resort which is very nice and not too deep - good for beginners. They also do boat diving from their beach located sister resort Mariners Club, and the boat diving is highly recommended as well. One day we met 3 dolphins at Snapper Reef at 18m!

We are definitely going back to Negril in future and definitely will be staying at Negril Resort.
