“Worst Hyatt Ever”

Hyatt Regency Acapulco

This has to be the worst Hyatt I have ever stayed at! The company I was visiting made the reservation and insisted on paying for the room. I specifically asked for the Hyatt as I am a Diamond Member w/G-Passport. Upon check-in - I gave them my GPP# and they gave me a terrible double room with no view of the water. To their defense, they did switch my room, however, I just felt nothing has been kept up-to-date here. The location is good but that's about all. Pool area seems dirty, no alarm clocks in the room, no iron, and I couldn't get anyone to give me a wake-up call in the morning. You're better off finding another hotel and forgoe any point programs! A couple of great restaurants right near Senior Frogs (just downhill)! Have Fun!

“Good hotel for a good deal.”

The hotel is located in a good location, it's next to many resturants, a walmart and of course the beach (bay). It is however a short distance from the downtown resturants, attractions and nightclubs. The taxi ride is only $6 to get there so don't worry. The hotel is very safe. I did have a problem a check in, I had requested a king size bed but was given two double beds. The bell hop told me he would inquire down at the check in but when he returned he said nothing was available. I think he never went, and wish I could take my tip back because I went down to the check in desk and they told me nothing was available but in an hour a new room would be available and that the bell hop never came down to ask.
Yes the room smells like the ocean, I guess that misty smell of ocean water you get. The 5 star hotels have machines that take away moisture from the air getting rid of that smell, but its not bad its the ocean, you get used to it and I found it deliteful. So the rooms were spacious, lots of closet space, a safe in the room for your valuables, and they were clean. The room had a nice balcony facing the ocean which was nice. I was also fortunate to be in the hotel room during an earthquake, my first one being a new yorker and all, but the room was good, nothing broke, I think you call it Earthquake proof. I would highly recommend this hotel if you get a great deal like I did. I got it on apple tours for dirt cheap with airfare for a whole week. <$1000.

The hotel's pool wasn't the best but it was nice to swim in, I think it was a little dirty and scummy but then again it was a holiday weekend and there were so many people there. They have a lot of conventions so during the weekends the place is packed. The beach is nice, its the bay so the water is swimmable but there are a lot of boats in the area so it must be a bit dirty. The resturant over looking the water "El Pescador" was good they usually have buffet specials but I was hot sitting outdoors and got bit by the bugs.

“Worst Hyatt I have ever stayed at”

I rarely complain, as I travel all the time! But I am allawoing myself to one annual complaint, and here it is:

this hotel was bad! And not to my Hyatt expectations!
I have never been disappointed with Hyatt in the past...

The only reason I choose this hotel was because of it's location to the convention center.
I was warned, and did not have very high expectations of this property! But even those low expectations were not met!

the service was horrible; no attention to detail and quality.
the rooms were so out of date! Torn linen, bugs.....
the security was there but useless!

Next year, I wont mind being further from the conference, and stay somewhere else!

“Very Disappointed!”

Hyatt Regency Acapulco

This is not your usual Hyatt. It is sooo not up to Hyatt standards. Since I always want to say something positive in a review, I will say that our room location was wonderful. We had a corner room on the 10th floor, meaning we had a balcony that looked out onto Acapulco Bay and then wrapped around the corner to look up into the hills. Beautiful. That was the best part of our stay. Unfortunately, there were lots of bad parts, too.

First, the air conditioning in our room didn't work. We had to complain THREE times before it was finally fixed. This was unexcusable, especially because we went straight to the manager after our first request was ignored. We were told the air doesn't work very well, once by the front desk clerk, and then a second time by the manager. We told her that it should not be warmer inside than outside, but we speaking to her did nothing, so we spent a very uncomfortable night tossing and turning. We opened the balcony doors, but the 10th floor was a favorite landing spot for the local pigeons, and we had to chase them away a few times. Opening our doors any wider would have invited the entire pigeon neighborhood. Finally, the next afternoon, after complaing a third time, someone actually came up to our room to investigate and announced that no, the air was not working. It was promptly fixed.

Also, the beds. If you like hard as a rock mattresses, then this is the place for you. I was expecting the really nice and comfy beds at every Hyatt Hotel I've recently stayed in. Not the case here. I was very surprised to find that it wasn't Hyatt bedding, and to make matters much worse, the pillows had other people's drool stains all over them. It turned my stomach. Disgusting. There were no pillow covers, just pillow and case, so of course they were stained. When further investigating the bed, we discovered stained pillowcases, stained sheets (black smudges everywhere,) and many small holes in the blanket and bedspread. Yuck. I didn't feel like I was staying at a Hyatt but instead in a no-tell motel (at least that's what I think they would be like ;0).

I hate writing bad reviews, but between the air problem and the nasty bedding, I can't say many nice things. Pleasant staff, okay food, nice pool area, and nice location can't really make up for no air and stained, worn, dirty bedding. Very, very disappointing.

“Great deal and pleasently surprised!”

My wife and I stayed for a week and after reading some reviews, we expected less. This hotel was in a great location, convenient to the bus (right across the street) and Starbucks and restaurants, (a few short blocks walk each morning). The hotel staff was as perfect as one can expect and the remodeled room we had with the ocean/pool view and balcony was a steal for the price. There were all you can eat buffets with live music on the beach and pool deck each night as well. I will recommend this Hyatt especially for the price!
