“Great location”

Park Hyatt Toronto

Jun 14, 2008

Stayed here for a business convention. The rooms were very nice, but quite expensive (even on corporate rate). Did eat at the hotel restaurants, but just for convention catered meals, which were fine. One of the best things was the location - it allowed for some good walks to downtown stores, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the university (I did take an hour to tour the Egyptian museum right down the street) and access to the subway, etc.. Only issue I ran into was that the internet connection was broken for the 3 days I was there - they never got it fixed.

FYI-this is the same issue for all hotels in the downtown - the distance to the airport is quite far - it took me a 30-45 minute cab ride to and from, so plan ahead.

“Fantastic stay at Park Hyatt !”

Park Hyatt Toronto

May 26, 2008

My husband and I booked the Park Hyatt in Yorkville, Toronto for a short break for my birthday.
It was a lovely place with attentive and very efficient service. On our arrival, they sent up complimentary champagne and chocolates for my birthday. The hotel itself was impressive and on dining in the restaurant for dinner, we found the service to be exemplary and the food delicious.
It is well located, in the heart of Yorkville-which is considered a classy area to stay in. Lots of Starbucks and coffee places within walking distance of the hotel and the main shopping areas ( Eaton Centre and Queen Street West) were within walking distance of the hotel. Its also practically opposite to the Royal Ontario museum.
We were very pleased with our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone coming to stay in Toronto. No complaints at all!

“If I'm paying that much for a cavern it better overlook the Santorini's caldera”

We booked an executive corner suite at the last minute, to attand a business meeting in Toronto. We used on line booking- not through the hotel site. I'm not sure what other writers did to receive champagne and jam but we certainly got nothing but the promised bed and breakfast.

There was a lineup to check at 8:30 pm in but it did move quickly when two desk clerks joined the one already there checking guests in and the other one working on a computer - not checking guests. Actuall check in once I reached the clerk was as speedy as I have ever encountered.

The room was spacious as promised with a good layout for us as we had two small children with us and wanted a separate but connected spot for them. The bathroom was spacious and well equiped with toiletries in generous amounts and a separate tub & shower arrangement - both well above average.

Our big surprise came when we looked around and realized the room did not have a window other than a frosted one above the bath. We' dont spend a lot of time gazing out but a room with no visibility outside is a bit claustrophobic.

The bathroom floor was icy - I'm Canadian and used to the cold but this was beyond belief. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever encountered and big enough that I could not warm my toes on my husband - something sorely needed.

Breakfast was adequate nothing more.

We were allowed late check out through the frequent guest program - this was very helpful.

My husband ate at Annona and said they were very accommodating - he was with my sister in law and in total four small children - but slow.

My husband had mesaged me that they were at "Nonnas" upon my return from my meeting. Not seeing any signs in the lobby I approached the Concierge - a young lady. She saw me there and picked up the phone studiously avoiding recognizing my presence. I waited for a few minutes whilst she booked a car for the following day for someone. I was finally approached by a gloved hotel employee - perhaps a bell hop who asked if he could help me. At this point the concierge quickly hung up and inquired as to what she could do for me. I asked about the whereabouts of the restaurant "Nonnas"? She laughed and said "Nonnas?" as if I was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I said yes "the hotel restaurant - my husband told me he was there". She said oh you must mean "Annona". This exchange was rather perplexing to me how can you fail to recognise Annona from Nonnas when I am asking about the hotel restaurant.

When checking out I asked if many rooms did not have a window and was told no - I suspicion I had when observing the outside of the hotel whild walking back from my meeting. I said that we liked the hotel overall but were very surpised to be allocated a room with no visibility to the outside. The attendant gave me his card and suggested I contact him the next time I was booking and he would ensure me a room with a window.

The sad thing is - we travel to Toronto on business at least 5 times per year always staying at similar hotels and this is actually one of the better experiences. The hotel has potential but I suggest they not put their guests in windowless rooms and make some effort at ameliorateion if this is pointed out. They should assign the concierge to house keeping and promote the bell hop to concierge. Finally, if I am going to bother to secure a frequent guest card it should at least get me checked into at least an average room - quickly.

Will I stay at Hyatts again - yes - I continue to believe this is one of the better chains. Will I stay at this one again? No, I'll probably keep trying to find a good Toronto hotel.

We stayed in a Park Suite in the older tower of the two

Pros:
- Complimentary champagne and vanilla infused jam
- Convenient location in Yorkville: a few hundred meters from the subway, whole foods, royal ontario museum
- Above average service
- Complete (and very prompt) in-room dining options
- Connected to one of the better Spas - Stillwater Spa - in NA
- Natural shampoos and lotion (wheat, flak seed, etc)
- Complimentary internet access
- "Older-style" hotel succeeds without being ultra modern

Cons:
- Anonna restaurant is inconveniently located in-between the two tours on the ground floor, meaning that lazy-morning breakfasts in the restaurant are not an option unless you want to walk past the front desk
- No pants-press for business travelers
- No light over the bathtub in a large bathroom making it quite dark
- Price point for everything is a bit high, but perhaps to be expected of a park hyatt
- Television system has not been updated to flat / lcd screen

“Classic Comfort in the Heart of Toronto”

Park Hyatt Toronto

Mar 5, 2008

Hello all. I am a Canadian expat working in China. I travel often and I recently chose the Park Hyatt in Toronto while I was there for a wedding.

I read all the reviews on tripadvisor before booking the hotel and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by my experience.

First, as a Platinum Hyatt member i was upgraded to something in between an Executive King and a Suite, comfortable enough. Below is my review:

This hotel is Park Hyatt elegance from top to bottom. The rooms are lovely, the bathrooms are incredible, and the Yorkville location make this an unbeatable experience. And just to top it off the service is excellent as well.

To be honest, I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel experience. The televisions are a bit old but apart from that I couldn't be happier. I stay at the Park Hyatt every time I visit Toronto for work and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

A note, for those visitors who are not familiar with Toronto; the Park Hyatt is located in Yorkville which is a great nightlife and shopping district about 3 kilometers north of the financial district. So if you are coming in to Toronto for some work and you need to be downtown this might not be the best hotel for you, but if you like the uptown shopping experience than this is the neighborhood you need to be in. The location of the Park Hyatt is perfect.

Also, be sure to book so that your stay includes breakfast, the restaurant on site has several tasty options.

I hope that helps.
