This is an old motel that has had a significant re-do. The floors of the rooms slant a bit, and the hallways are outdoors (though secure), but overall it's a really good value motel. For around $115/night, our family of 4 had a 2Q plus sofa bed room, with a mini-frig and microwave, continental breakfast buffet and free parking. The beds were comfy and came with top notch linens--triple sheeted with down comforters and both firm and soft pillows. The beds were definitely a cut above the rest of the furnishings, but everything was clean and in good repair. The bathroom was large and came with adequate amentities.
The breakfast room was almost always busy but was well attended and everything was replenished regularly. The women working there were always busy making sure that nothing ran out and that the tables were cleaned off.
There is a small pool, sauna and hot tub, but neither is particularly appealing. Nevertheless, our kids spent several hours in the pool/sauna one day when we were taking a break from the magic kingdom. There is also a guest laundry.
Parking is either on the side of the building or in a secure underground lot. The office is at the front of the building and the staff was almost always friendly and very helpful. The manager on site was very welcoming and checked in several times to make sure our stay was going well.
We walked to Disneyland and California Adventure from the hotel. It took about 15 minutes, which is really nothing when you're talking about walking around the parks all day! There were quite a few small places to eat nearby (that didn't look too appetizing) but a brand new Bubba Gumps has opened up less than a block away and a Cheesecake Factory is opening just beyond that. We found a Target and multiple restaurants about a mile or two down Harbor Avenue (away from the parks).
We were happy with our choice but if I intended to spend more time in my room, I'd probably pick somewhere a bit nicer, possibly with a view. We looked out at a vacant lot (could see some of the fireworks from our room, though) and at the driveway to the underground parking. We spent almost no time in our room, so were very glad to save some money on our lodging. The Holiday Inn Express was a good balance for us on this trip.
