Very impressed with the whole set up from check in to departure.
Excellent quality of service, lovely rooms and splendid facilities. The breakfast restaurant gives you a great start to the day and is right next to the pier for your courtesy shuttle boat to the train station for access to any part of Bangkok you wish to visit.

IF there is a downside then its the bar and restaurant prices although five star hotel equals five star prices I guess.

Will definitely go back next time im in the region.

“Spa Resort with Package holiday touch”

Marriott Bangkok Resort & Spa

I stayed at the Bangkok Marriott Resort in Jan 08 and Feb 07. While I thought of the hotel as a peaceful heaven in busy BKK the first time around, the experience was spoilt the second time around.
Being under new management, the focus seemed to have shifted to revenue generation. In 3 days there were 2 weddings, one large family celebration and a corporate event. So this meant endless and noisy set-up work from late morning to early evening, loud music playing at night, all spoling the supposed peace and quiet of a resort. The place felt more like a package tourist holiday club than an exclusive resort. Next time in BKK I'll go elsewhere. Shame though... the location is great!

“As good as ever”

This was my fourth stay at the Marriott Resort and it is still as fabulous as the first time.
You can't fault the accommodation, staff, food, pool, spa etc. I have stayed at the Shangri-la and Royal Orchid Sheraton by the river and city hotels in Bangkok but this place is the best.

“Hotel on the river”

Marriott Bangkok Resort & Spa

May 1, 2008

This hotel is a bit off the main drag but provides a shuttle boat service to the Skytrain station which gives easy access to the main areas of Bangkok. It's setting on the river is superb and the overall standard of the hotel is very good. We were on a bed & breakfast deal (breakfast was very good) and the overall package was very reasonably priced for this standard of accommodation. Used the Riverside terrace restaurant on the first evening but felt that the overall standard was average although there was a very wide selection of dishes. The other restaurants in the hotel were also pricey but there are several eateries in the shopping complex just outside the hotel which were very reasonably priced.

“The check in spoilt the experience”

Marriott Bangkok Resort & Spa

On arriving at the Marriott we were welcomed at the check in and although it was drawn out it was still ok with the customary cold towell and cold tea.
We were given a hardsell on upgrading to another room and when one level was rejected they would try to upsell the next one .It was like dealing at the used car lot not a luxury hotel!
When it was time to be shown to our room my family had gone to the toilet ,the front office man then disappeared ( never to be seen again) We were left posted in lobby waiting for his return and watching other guests check in and go to their rooms .
Every time I approached the front office staff I was told ...moment please !!!!
After 30 minutes we were finally taken to our room .
I have never experienced such a lack of professionalism in a 5 star hotel. As this had set the tone for my stay I did not enjoy the experience .
The room was up to standard , the pool bar was fun and has hour happy hours 4 to 6pm ( buy one drink and get the other for free) All the bars have happy hours at different times of the night.
There is a plaza attached to the hotel which offers alternative dining expecially if you have children.
We found the thai restaurant there to be very good.
Although the shuttle boats are available and the rbt is at the dock the hotel is somewhat isolated if you want to go out on the town.
I feel that are better hotels available for the same money .
