What an amazing place! A large hotel that feels warm and intimate. The soundproof rooms are huge, the beds are comfortable, and the service is impeccable. I stayed there for two successive weekends in May, and during the second stay the hotel and restaurant staff remembered who I was and even what I liked to drink at happy hour! I've stayed at the Mandarin Oriental several times before and while I find that place to be quite lovely, I prefer the Sheraton because it's quieter, more centrally located, and much less expensive. Nice gym as well, equipped with whirlpool, steam room, and sauna. There's even a bridge from the hotel to the skytrain platform.

This is a very nice hotel - we had a deluxe room which came with lots of nice amenities like free laundry and breakfast. Our room was great and extremely clean with a really nice bathroom. The only thing I didn't love about the hotel was the location - some people prefer this area - I would have preferred to be near the river.

The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit was the first hotel we stayed at on our honeymoon inThailand. I wasn't sure if booking a hotel, aimed at business travellers was a good thing. Any doubt was removed within 30 seconds of arriving.
This is a fantastic place to stay. It is spotlessly clean, quiet where it needs to be, and has great facilities. What makes this resort that extra bit special is the staff. They are wonderful. Friendly, professional, courteous and helpful beyond comparison.
We stayed in a Grand Deluxe room which was enormous (it even has a small walk in robes with built in, large, safe). We looked over the pool below and the park in distance, and the room was quiet.
Staying at a business oriented hotel as a leisure traveller is actually a smart thing to do. Business travellers have high standards and requirements. Good food, good entertainment, good gym and facilities are expected. The thing is of course is they aren't there to enjoy it. We made our way to breakfast at 9am and the restaurants were almost empty! We got to enjoy the sumptuous and unbelievable selection of food almost to ourselves. The same went for the pool (which is massive, beautiful, and exactly what you want after a day out and about in Bangkok), gym (a real gym), spa (truly amazing), etc..
The location is great. You walk out the entrance, along a raised walkway and within a minute you're at the sky rail station. A few stops later you're at MBK and the Siam shopping malls and there is plenty to do around this area. Plenty. You can switch here to the other skyrail line, ride it to the end, and catch a boat up the river to all the wonderful sites.
We couldn't fault the Sheraton. It has all the fundamentals right plus more and then tops it off with fantastic service.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is located in the heart of Bangkok City with direct access to BTS Asok skytrain and only a few steps to MTR Sukhumvit subway stations in which provide easy access to major department stores, famous tourist attractions and Bangkok highlights.

Rooms and facilities are adequate and commendable by SPG standard. Staff are courteous - right from reception to housekeeping. There is simply nothing to complain about.

Continental breakfast serves is not too bad.

One thing however, we had a bad experience dining in Basil restaurant. Apparently, the hotel claims Basil as their award winning Thai restaurant serving the finest authentic cuisine in a sophisticated setting. All food is served and presented in a creative flair.

However, it lacks the authenticity of traditional Thai cuisine and tastes. Perhaps, it was blended with too much contemporary touch. We are rather dissappointed since Thai cuisine was supposed to be very tasteful given the herbs and spices used; however food served at Basil taste rather bland. The price of food in Basil is also on the higher end.

We would recommend many other Thai cuisine restaurants outside the hotel, or those located inside the shopping mall i.e. Paragon etc.

Otherwise, this hotel is a good place to stay!
