“Loved the hotel”

Renaissance Hollywood Hotel

5 of 5 stars

We recently stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel from June 15th to June 20th and loved it. I took my wife and two boys ages 8 & 6. First of all it is in a perfect location. Really close to the nice areas of Hollywood. Also close to Universal Studios and Farmers Market which has the Grove shopping area. Actually, we had heard not to go to Disneyland because it was a distance from our hotel. We decided to go anyhow, and honestly it was only 40 minutes from the time that we left. The key is to leave early in the morning. We left around 6:30 in the morning and got there around 7:10. The park opened at 8:00 but we were able to park our car go to the tram and by the time we bought our tickets it basically opened up.

I recommend this hotel for families with young kids, because it has a really nice pool. The temperature for the pool was perfect and the deepest part of the pool is no bigger then 5 feet deep. Also my kids seemed to enjoy the fact that the hotel had free m&m's for the hotel guest.. My kids everyday picked up some m&m's and loved it.

I felt like the staff really treated my family great. They made us feel very special and my family really liked that. The only members of the staff we didn't feel that really went all out was the concierge area. They did what they were supposed to do, but I didn't feel that they took the extra step to make us happy. They were still very good, but after tipping them, I feel that they should take the extra step, to make us happy. For example, I asked them to recommend a restaurant. They recommended one but they didn't call the restaurant and make the reservation for us. Most concierge that I have worked with in the past, would make the phone call and reserve us a table.

We stayed on the 15th floor and had a beautiful room, with a view of the hollywood sign. I just asked them if they had the ability to accomodate us with a room that viewed the hollywood sign and they said no problem.

Overall the saying goes you get what you pay for. If you have the money to pay almost 300 a night, this is the right hotel for you, because you are treated like royalty.

Last thing that was kinda negative. They have a valet charge of 29.00 a night or a self parking charge of 10.00 a night. We ended up paying the valet charge because we would go somewhere, come back and then go back out somewhere. If you do that for the self parking, I believe that you have to pay each time you come and go, but I could be wrong.

I hope this helps you with your decision.

“Great Location!!!!”

We stayed at the Renaissance Hollywood for the final 3 nights of our honeymoon.

Check in was very swift and efficient and we had a room on the 16th floor (i had requested a room with a good view) with a tremendous view of the hills and the famous 'HOLLYWOOD' sign. We would sit and admire the view in a morning and evening. The room itself was large, light and airy and very clean. Tea/coffee facilites were useful.

The main attraction of the hotel is its location, right on Hollywood Boulevard with the walk of fame, chinese theatre, El Capitan theatre, Kodak theatre and other tourist sites. The centre is part of the Hollwood and Highland complex with plenty of dining and shopping available. In terms of dining, the hotel restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced and was probably our best meal whilst staying there. We happened to be there whilst the 'Love Guru' premiere was on so caught a glimpse of Mike Myers as he went in to the chinese theatre. The following evening Warren Beatty was at the Kodak Theatre so no shortage of star spotting opportunities.

The hotel is also well located for public transport as it is a 2 minute walk to the top of the metro red line, one stop from Universal Studios (we spent a day there and thoroughly enjoyed it) and a simple bus ride to Beverly hills and Santa Monica/Venice (be prepared for an hours ride on the 704). With more time we would have also gone on one of the tour buses and visited some more sights.

“Great location”

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It was our first trip to LA, and the Renaissance was the perfect base. The hotel was modern, and the rooms very spacious and clean. Ours on the 16th floor had great views of the Hollywood sign.

The hotel is part of the Hollywood and Highland Complex which has restaurants and shops, plus the Chinese theatre, Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Kodak Theatre where the Oscars tke place.

It's also close to the main stop for the sightseeing buses, which are a great idea if you are only in LA for a couple of days. They take you to Rodeo Drive, Farmers Market, Melrose Ave, Universal Studios etc. Also recommended would be a day at Santa Monica/Venice Beaches, which are gorgeous.

Great place to stay and see LA. Good location, nice attention to detail. Good, clean rooms, nice food and friendly serivce.

I'd almost given up on US hotels - famed for their quality of service - but this place restored that faith.

A great all rounder - which is what you want.

Highly recommend.

P.S. try to get a room high up room - the view is more than worth it!!!

“Just as I had hoped for”

Like the reviewer below, I also stayed here on Memorial Day weekend. I too saw the cast of Entourage filming an episode (and grabbed a photo with one of the actors!) – you really are in the centre of Hollywood when you stay here. The prime location is especially useful if you don’t plan on driving – you are steps away from sightseeing attractions and the tours depart from here. Taxis are also readily available outside the hotel. We used one to get to the Beverly Center mall which is about 5 miles away.

The room was just as I had expected. Tea/coffee making facilities were appreciated, and the room was a good size. I booked directly through the Marriott website and there is an option to request a high floor which increases your chance of seeing the Hollywood sign from your room. You can also see it from the pool which we used a couple of times. It was very pleasant.

I did not eat in the hotel or use the mini bar – you don’t really need to as there is a convenience store across the street and the old- fashioned Mel’s Diner for breakfast about 5 minutes away.

I paid £530 to stay from May 22nd for 4 nights. I think this is a good price, and I would definitely consider staying here again.
