My husband and I recently returned from our eclectic experience on the Venice Beach boardwalk while staying at this hotel. We loved it. They didn't charge us for the two buck Chuck left in the room when they could have easily done so as most hotels do when you touch anything in their mini bar. It was so quaint. At night, the boardwalk does turn into a ghost town but I wouldn't say I felt unsafe. The door is locked so the vagrants don't wander in and that made me feel safer! The next time I'd request a fourth floor room so we don't hear the noise of those upstairs. We were in the back on the 3rd floor and could still see the ocean. It was so cool that we didn't need our fan and could keep the windows open to leave us very comfy. The staff and owner we so personable and we were wanting for nothing. Parking stinks but after we lost our place on the street, it was worth the $20.00 to park in a spot where you could drive in and out. If you are looking for cookie cutter white bread experience, this is not your place. If you are looking for an adventure and character, this definitely is the place to stay.
