This hotel has a great location on the edge of the French Quarter, two blocks from Harrah's, three from River Walk, and not a bad walk from the convention center. It is close to all three of New Orleans' street car lines. It has an excellent meeting facility which was perfect for our conference of about 800 people. This was my second stay in this hotel - the first was a few weeks before Katrina. They've renovated a bit, and it shows. Not major changes - mostly looks the same, but a little fresher and less worn.

Food for the conference was good, but the coffee was lousy. Why can't upscale hotels make good coffee for large groups when even Dunkin' Donuts can make a decent cup? Even the coffee in the restaurant was poor. Fortunately, there is a Starbucks in the lobby. Service, however, was excellent - the staff was friendly and helpful. By the way, don't eat in the hotel restaurant, it was good but not spectacular, and VERY expensive for what you get. Fortunately, I only did one breakfast there.

My room was by the elevator, which worried me, but there was no extra noise from the elevator. My room had an unusual layout for a chain hotel room - the bathroom was not by the door, it was on the other side of the bedroom. The king size bed was as comfortable as I've come to expect from Sheraton - very. There was also a very comfortable easy chair, but it did not have a good view of the TV. I especially liked that the windows had interior wooden shutters instead of a curtain. It was very attractive, and made it easy to control the amount of light. Maid service was excellent.

All in all, a very good hotel.

This is a lovely hotel. The bell staff were fun and very informative. After we checked in we stopped by to get a recommendation from them on a lunch spot. They chatted us up then sent us to Acme Oyster Co. Great call we couldn't have been happier. Our room was really nice with a beautiful view. The pool was smaller then expected but nice. They could use more chairs but laying on the edge of the pool was just fine. We had one minor hiccup but nothing to stress over. This is a great location to the Quarter and a Starbucks in the lobby. I would stay here again.

I stayed at the Sheraton while at a conference. Stayed 2 nights. Room was clean and maintenance fairly good. Nice view of the river. Good location. Room service(breakfast) was very prompt food good and at temperature. Also a Starbucks in the lobby. Staff accomodating. After reading other reviews I expected noise but it was very quiet. Good trip all in all.

I stayed at this hotel June 1-5 2008 for a conference. I stayed on the 47th. floor (club room). The first room was a view of the french quarter, but I wanted a water view. I went back down to the desk, and they changed me without any problem at all. I checked in about 11:00 a.m. so I ran into no line, but I did notice that about 2:00 p.m. there was a small line, but there were people at each check-in desk helping people.

There is not really any place in the hotel to eat. They only have one place on the second floor, and after looking at their list of foods and their price I went to MCDonalds across the street.

I really liked the location, so close to everything, and with the water view I had, the lights at night were really pretty.

I found every staff member to be kind, and very helpful. If I needed extras from housekeeping they always gave it to me. I guess it could be because I tiped them each day. But I do that anywhere I stay.

I must say however that driving around the area sucks. I had such a hard time. It seems that every road is one way, and it was never the way I wanted to go. But I managed. The streets are sooooo narrow too. Watch out about parking at the hotel, it cost me over 30 bucks a night. Having a car is not nesssary unless you want to go outside of the city. You can catch a shuttle at the airport, I think it cost $15 each way. And the trolly takes you just about anywhere you would want to go in the downtown area, plus other areas. And it is only $1.25 per trolly ride.

If I went for a conference again I would stay there, but for just my self I most likely would look for a cheaper and more family friendly place. Some place I could eat at the hotel and not have to go look for something.

All and all, my stay was nice.
