“Nice experience”

I was in Seattle for a long weekend for pleasure.

The hotel is in a very central part of town. Practically everything is walking distance. This is very nice. Although this is mostly a business hotel, I did not feel overwhelmed from the business type of atmosphere. The staff is helpful. The rooms are comfortable, and above average for a typical room at other large hotel chains even if the bathrooms are a bit dated. Ask to be on a higher floor so you can enjoy the lovely Seattle views. I do not have any negatives to say about this hotel. You get what you pay for.

Overall, a nice experience. The big plus is location. Being able to walk throughout downtown is very convenient. And after a long day of sightseeing, coming back to a comfortable room with a nice comfy bed is exactly what you will get.

“a bit spendy but nice”

The Westin Seattle

Jul 15, 2008

This is a huge hotel! Many amenities and considering all the people that are staying there, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Me and my husband checked in late at night. The view from the room is nice. The next morning when we left, there were a million people walking around, but the great thing is that we never heard them. It has great cable tv, room service (which is overpriced as you would expect, and food is just ok). I'm sure there are many amenities here that we didnt take advantage of but overall the peace and quiet in our room was worth every penny.

    • Disliked — its very crowded in the lobby areas- busy to check out, plan ahead.

“More like a "holiday-estin" than a Westin.”

First, I want to say that this property is nothing like any Westin I have stayed at before. It's in need of major refurbishment. We were bumped, or as they like to say, "walked" to this hotel from the Seattle Sheraton due to the Sheraton staff overbooking many rooms. We were given a room that needed serious cleaning. The carpet was dirty and stained and there were some long black hairs on the bathroom counter. Unlike the Sheraton, where internet is free, the Wi-Fi cost almost $20 a day.
The power strip, on the desk, was malfunctioning and I had to call for an "engineer" to come fix it so I could charge my computer.
Even after the Sheraton promised they would cover our expenses for the inconvenience, the Westin still charged us for internet, two local phone calls and parking. I've since requested a refund.

“Great location”

I was in town for a convention from June 7-11.
Great location: This was an awesome location for shopping, dining, and walking distance to Pike Place. The convention center was literally a block away but not connected to the hotel.
Hotel dining: I did not utilize room service but for being a Westin, I expected a little bit more. There is only a Ruth Chris and a Starbucks at this location.
Room: Very nice room that can fit two people comfortably.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — nice bathroom and adequate room size
    • Disliked — not too many dining options within the hotel, especially for breakfast

“Good hotel - great location”

The Westin Seattle

4 of 5 stars
Chester, VA
Jul 7, 2008

My family (3 adults) stayed at the Westin for one night. The hotel was nice, just what you'd expect from a Westin. I'm an SPG member and was able to book the hotel on their web site using cash and points ($60, really $70 when you add in the taxes, and 4,000 points). I think that's a good deal for a hotel of this class and the location. If you want to use cash and points, book early - once the hotel gets to a certain level of occupancy, they don't allow cash and points bookings. It's a few blocks from Pike Street Market and across the street from the monorail, 20 minute walk to the needle or a quick monorail ride - all very convenient. The airport is about 20 minutes away - $35 for a cab or $42 for a towncar. The room was nice - round (the hotel has two round towers) - with awesome view of downtown and the waterfront when you looked to the side. The king bed was nice, but the couch was very uncomfortable. Overall, a good stay.
