“Great hotel stay in midtown ATL”

Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown

This was my first trip to Atlanta and it was a great experience. I was there on business for 3 nights and was working in midtown, so this was an ideal location. The suites are spacious, clean and comfortable and the view facing downtown is quite nice. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and bars and not too far from shopping via MARTA (subway system). The staff were courteous and professional and the room service quality quite good. If you're staying in midtown Atlanta, it would be hard to find a nicer place.

“Clean but needs renovation”

Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown

4 of 5 stars
Maryland
Nov 17, 2007

I've just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Like many other reviewers, I chose it because of the locaton (proximity to the training site and MARTA train).

My room was very clean, but the decor not as eye-pleasing as I've seen in other Marriott locations. Mismatched furniture and bleak colors made the room look rather sad. Bathroom included separate tub and shower, but cheap countertop and fixtures and tacky wallpaper made me feel like I'm in a hospital or some kind of institution. Shower cabin was on the small side - I'm an average size 10 and was constantly hitting the walls trying to manoeuvre inside.

The room was very quiet - I haven't heard any outside noise whatsoever.

Housekeeping was so-so. One day my unread newspapers disappeared (I left them on the desk to read later), another day I got 2 shampoos but no conditioner and less towels. One trash bin was never emptied.

Large whirlpool was fantastic, with no strong chlorine smell. The pool, although quite large, was only 3 feet deep all over.

On my arrival staff at the front desk was rather indifferent and not very welcoming, but from next morning forward everyone was very warm and friendly. I'd rate this hotel at 3/average but have to give an extra point for the great staff.

Internet is not free but you also get unlimited long-distance calls with it. This was a nice bonus since I didn't have to spend my cell phone minutes to call home.

Food in the hotel's restaurant is too expensive and not that good for the price, athough the service was great. There are many dining options nearby - South City Kitchen and Spanish tapas restaurant Fuego are literally around the corner and many restaurants are a short walk away. Thai bistro Tamarind Seed on Peachtree St. 2 blocks away was simply superb.

“Nice Midtown stay”

Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown

4 of 5 stars
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Nov 6, 2007

Stayed a Thurs and Friday night. Rate included breakfast and parking. Paying for parking and/or breakfast would have been kind of expensive, but not unusual for a "downtown-ish" hotel.

All suites, nice room. It has the great Marriott updated bedding.

Internet access in the room is not free. I've come to expect free internet access, but I realize that many of the bigger markets do not offer it free...because they can apparently charge for it.

1.5 blocks from MARTA-Arts Center Station. One block from Crescent St which has plenty of dining options within walking distance. Easy MARTA ride to downtown for business or tourist stuff.

Right next door to Four Seasons. Einsteins Bagels and Starbucks next door for coffee/breakfast options.

It's on the north end of Midtown area so it's a bit far from Fox Theater to easily walk.

“Cheaper than the Four Seasons but you get what you pay for”

I had a conference at the Four Seasons next door. They were full so
I stayed here. It was cheaper. The "suites" were average. The bathrooms are dark and look like they haven't been updated in 20 years. The furniture is cheap and uncomfortable. The staff are friendly. Overall there wasn't anything bad about the hotel - there just wasn't really anything good about it either. There are lots of hotels in Atlanta - I don't know why you'd stay here unless you just really need to be in this location.

“Good Hotel, worth a look”

Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown

Oct 23, 2007

We stayed for a family event. As a result we had a great rate due to the group rate. The rooms were nice (I saw several) and some have small balconies.

There is a small fridge that is empty and ready for use. There are two TVs with a decent selection of channels. There is a desk with a high-speed modem connection (not cheap at almost $13/day) and a comfortable couch that converts to a 2nd bed.

The bathroom and closet are nothing special, but can be sealed off from the "living room" so that they can be accessed without waking anyone sleeping on the couch.

If you do not need to be downtown, the location can not be beat. It is only a short walk to the MARTA station and the Arts Center. Piedmont Park is only a short walk away and the botanical gardens can be reached by foot as well (a bit longer walk)

This hotel only gets 4-stars for several reasons:

1. Accessing the garage is tough. You need to stop on a steep hill, get out, and insert your hotel room key to open the garage door.

2. The curtains on the french doors separating the bedroom and living room lets light through, which means that it is hard to have one room sleeping while the other one has the TV/lights on
