I don't know what happen to my original review which I wrote in 2006. But it still has not appeared. So here goes.
My wife and I have traveled much of the world, stayed in a few 5 star hotels and enjoyed most all of it.
BUT, for us nothing beats the Anastasis Apartments, the views of the sea, the exceptionally well kept property and rooms, the GREAT hospitality of Despina and her husband. Everything, but everything was perfect!
Since our three week stay in May 2006 we have taken cruises, stayed in many other beautiful places in Europe, Asia, Hawaii, South Pacific, Canada and the USA.
BUT our evenings having a drink and simple dinner on our Anastasis Apartments' balcony and watching the sunset over the caldera still tops our list. To Despina and all the employees at Anastasis Apartments, efharisto!! We WILL see you again.

Based on Trip Advisor I booked this gem for 6 days in May 2008. I believe that my wife summed it up as we walked through the doors and saw the blue Aegean beyond the infinity pool - " I think I have died and gone to heaven." The staff is the best I have ever encountered at any hotel or resort - always there, but never intrusive. Stick your head outside in the morning and minutes later your breakfast is there. I have a bad knee and when I needed a little help getting out of the pool there was Victor with a helping hand. Where he came from I will never know. Spotlessly clean! Always fresh flowers in the rooms. And the Jacuzzi at sunset with complimentary wine and mezes was wonderful. There is no food service other than breakfast, but a "snack" of Greek salad and a plate of mezes along with a bottle of the local wine is more than enough for a light meal. If you wish to go out Katerina and Despina are always available to make recommendations and reservations at a great restaurant, even arrange transportation if you need it.

There are some things that Anastasis is not. It is not noisy, even planes leaving the airport seem an intrusion on the serenity. It is not a place to spend alot of time in the room watching TV, but then who would want to. There is no "action", but it is a place where you can enjoy being with your spouse or significant other in a beautiful location with a friendly, attentive staff. A great place for a honeymoon.

Stayed 3 nights June 3-5,2008 and don't bother looking anywhere else in Santorini as this place is the best.The view is to die for,the rooms are spotless,the staff fantastic,free internet.We ventured away from the infinity pool with reluctance to walk to Oia on the path that is below the apartments.As has been said numerous times this really is the best place to stay on the island.Book early as we wanted to stay for 5 nights but they were booked.To be in the infinity pool looking down on the caldera is an experience not to be missed.The photos don't lie ,it really does look like this.

I was there for my honeymoon last month. Both my husband and I were truly impressed with the impeccable service provided by Despina and her team.
It was a blessing in disguise to stay at Anastasis as we had wanted to book a more expensive apartment in Oia, which is touted to have the most beautiful sunset, but the apartment was fully booked. In desperation, I opted for Anastasis based on the many great reviews, and it is located in Imerovigli, the next village from Oia.
Not only did we get a fabulous host, a romantic suite on the highest level of Anastasis, a balcony that overlooks the sea, we get to watch the sunset in the comfort of our balcony while enjoying a glass of champagne.
Many people have the misconception that by staying in a hotel at Oia, they get to watch sunset from their rooms, but they are mistaken! Most hotels there face the caldera, away from the direction of the sunset. So those who stay in Oia may end up having to find a tiny spot at some corner of the village in order to watch sunset, with hundreds of other strangers.
Despina likes to surprise her guests with the facilities within the room, so the pictures and descriptions listed on the website may not reveal all that are in stored. You'll only find out when you're there.
Those looking for a romantic getaway, I'll highly recommend the White Suite or Anastasis Suite!
