“5 stars is not enough... Amazing”
My husband and I stayed at this spectacular hotel for only 2 nights in June 2008 at the end of a whirlwind trip to Istanbul, Athens, and beautiful Santorini. We were looking for a place to relax after weeks of sightseeing and to enjoy the famous Santorini sunsets. We booked this hotel based on the reviews here at TripAdvisor. Not only were we not disappointed, my expectations were even surpassed. This hotel is amazing!
I booked the hotel via emails with Despina, the gracious, friendly, and helpful owner of the hotel. I was worried about availability, since we didn't book until a couple of months before our trip. Despina was able to accommodate us in a simple room the first night, moving us to a junior suite for our second night. This sounded fine, so we sent our deposit and booked the rooms.
Getting there:
We arrived by ferry, grabbed a taxi at the port, and he knew exactly where the Anastasis Apartments were. Despina was there to greet us at the gate to the hotel before we could even get ourselves out of the taxi.
Check-in:
... was a breeze. Then, she walked us out to the pool area with a breathtaking view of the caldera. Speechless... it is even more beautiful than the pictures. We then sat with another hotel employee in the lounge area (and I'm sorry I can't remember her name, because she, too, was very friendly and helpful.) She showed us locations on a map for restaurants, beaches, and parking all over the island. She also provided a list of these places. Very helpful! Then, she took us to our room where our bags were waiting.
The 1st room (Basic):
The room was a quaint and nice on the front site of the building (no caldera view). It had a queen size bed, and even a small kitchen area with dishes, small refrigerator, small stove, anything you would need. We each had a robe and slippers, too. Although we didn't have a view from this room; we were very happy with it.
The 2nd room (Junior Suite):
This room was large and very nice. It had a larger bed, couch, kitchen area, a bigger and nicer bathroom. Most noteworthy was the balcony with amazing view of the caldera!
Breakfast:
11 euro per day for the two of us. The first day we wanted to enjoy the view, so Despina had our breakfast delivered to the hot tub deck area. It was a nice breakfast with yogurt, breads, boiled egg, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. It was very nice. Our next morning we had to leave before 5am to catch our plane. We asked if we could have some breakfast foods delivered the night before. When we got to our room from dinner, the refrigerator was stocked with our breakfast for the morning.
Pool and Hot Tub:
The infinity pool and deck area is inviting and relaxing. The views are so beautiful. If we had gotten to stay longer, I could have spent most of the days just sitting on the deck and swimming, enjoying the view. The hot tub is scheduled for 1 hour at check-in. It is very nice as well.
Car rental:
We wanted to rent a car for the day to visit the Red Beach. The hotel had the car delivered to the hotel and we left it at the airport. It was a breeze.
There is a restaurant close to the hotel that will pick you up and return you after your meal... Toy Nikoy. The food was delicious and the owner very friendly! Highly recommended!
Overall, the hotel gets 5+ stars. I cannot wait until we can get back here again and stay longer! This place is a true gem in an beautiful location with amazing service!
