“A world of animals for your enjoyment!”

Every aspect of this top-notch zoo is first rate. The grounds are beautiful and sparkling clean. All of the staff members are very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. It is a big place, with several sections - they were working on the African area when we were last there. The animals are the stars of the park! Every kind imaginable live here and it is a great way to see ALL the animals Australia has to offer, up close and personal. Give yourself an all day or two here!
Almost every hour throughout the day there is an animal show, cuddle, or talk - included in the price of admission. Of course the Croc show is very special but we also loved holding the wombats and petting the kangaroo and koalas. We even had our picture taken with a 30' snake! There are many photo ops on your own as well. The gift stores are full of many interesting, fun gifts to take home.
Stay in the Glass House Mts. nearby. They are spectacular and have an interesting history. Also nearby is the Ginger Factory (fun for kids) and a famous pub you won't want to miss. Just Northeast of Brisbane, the Australia Zoo is a must do downunder. We highly recommend a visit here.

“great place”

Australia zoo is not the biggest zoo i have visited but it is probably the best.

I went there by taking the train from Brisbane central ($16.40 return) to Beerwah station - takes about 1 hour 20 minutes - then there is a free australia zoo shuttle that takes you to the zoo about 5 minutes drive away from the station. Entry fee is $49 for adults and $39 for students.

What i liked best about the zoo was the staffs enthousiasm and friendlyness. You can certainly see that they love their job and feel strongly about the 'conservation' message. Everyone there is really carrying on with Steve Irwins' great work and vision.

Staff also walk around with animals e.g. koala, baby aligator, etc.. so you can get up close which adds to the experience.

There is a food court there with a number a food outlets - all are reasonably prices. There are also a number of souvenir shops that sell souvenirs pertaining to the zoo, but also the usual range of australian souvenirs - however, unlike other souvenir shops such as those in Brisbane city, all that is sold at the souvenir shops within Australia zoo appeared to be made in Australia!

A great day out for everyone.

“Outstanding”

Myself and my wife took our grandson to Australia zoo and I can only describe our visit as outstanding.
At the outset I thought the admission prices were relatively high but after a very short time in the zoo it becomes apparent just what good value it is.
The Crocoseum show is unbelievable and I would be happy to pay the admission charge just to watch this show alone.
The whole site is extremely tidy and well kept and unlike so many of these type of facility the toilets etc. are absolutely spotless
Any person that leaves the zoo and complains about the whole show or the admission charges should stop and think how hard it must be to keep it up and running they should then have a long hard look in the mirror at themselves to try and realise what sort of a whinger they are!!
Well done Australia zoo, what a shame the "main man" is no longer around to enjoy and be proud of what he was so instrumental in building.
Thank you for everything, will will return again shortly.

This zoo has many shows arranged. Steve Irvin is a hero in all respects! His wife and kids are following thier footsteps! It was a wonderful visit. All animals are well kept. The elephants feeding, birds feeding, the koalas, the kangaroo feeding, the tiger, the snakes, the crocodile show, each thing was really fun!

“CRIKEY! Galloping echidnas.”

We visited Australia Zoo on 10 July 2007 with our children aged 2 and 6, this was our second visit - our first was in 2005.

We traveled an hour from Sunshine Beach and arrived around 10am. This was just about the right time to make it for the 11am Crocoseum show. We paid about $130 for our family, the 2 year old was free (finally someone who's kind to toddlers!).

We loved the Crocoseum show, my favourite being the Brolga fly-in. The humour is definitely aimed towards the bottom end of the market. The show is aimed at providing some very strong educational messages, particularly about safety with snakes and crocodiles.

There are a number of things that make Australia Zoo one of the special zoos of the world.

Firstly, the animals are very healthy, active and you get a lot of opportunities to observe, and even engage with the animals.

Secondly, the staff are constantly engaging with you and helping you enjoy your experience at the zoo.

We enjoyed our experience at the zoo very much. After the Crocoseum show we went into the kangaroo area, and we were amazed by the echidnas which seemed to be almost galloping around their enclosure. This is amazing, because in winter time, in Victoria, these animals don't even venture out into the open air. Then we jumped on a short shuttle ride to listen to the elephant keeper explaining the diet, activities and lifestyle of the three elephants at the zoo. The elephants are well cared for, and have a large space to roam in. We then saw two of the tigers enjoying a bone. They are brothers and one of them got up to try out his sibling's bone. The keeper was standing inside their enclosure with them while giving a commentary. That was so amazing! We had a chance to pat the koalas and enjoy watching them feeding. We also had a chance to feed the red kangaroos with a mixture of rabbit food and split corn. The kangaroos are very comfortable with people, and were quite tolerant. We loved the tropical aviary, very lively and vibrant to enjoy. On our way out we saw the wombats which were actually running around. We left at around 3pm.

We love the concept set up by Steve Irwin, and we hope that the zoo management keep up his philosophy.
