Pretty, peaceful Bavarian mountain village, directly on the border with the Czech Republic, on the edge of the Bavarian and Bohemian Forests. This is where the iron curtain used to be - it actually ran across the middle of the railway station. Great place for walking and mountain biking, sightseeing in Germany and Czech Republic or just breathing in the clear mountain air. The Grosser Arber mountain (1,456 m) is a few minutes away and the cable car operates most of the year. Good location for alpine skiing and cross country skiing.
